Where links are clickable on Instagram
Instagram limits outbound links to a few places. Use each for what it is good at:
- Bio: up to five links. Put your storefront first so it shows as the main link.
- Stories: the link sticker sends viewers straight to a page for 24 hours, longer if you save it to a Highlight.
- DMs: links are clickable in direct messages, which is why "comment LINK and I'll send it" posts work.
- Captions and comments: not clickable. Write "link in bio" or "shelf: kitchen" so people know where to look.
Make Reels traffic land on the right product
A Reel can be seen for months, but your bio link is the same for everyone. If the bio goes to one product, viewers of older Reels hit a dead end. Point the bio at a storefront where every product you have shown is still listed, and say the shelf name in the Reel ("it's on my Kitchen shelf") so viewers can find it fast.
Use Stories for urgency
Stories are where time-sensitive deals do best. Link the sticker to a single product page or a shelf, mention the price, and save the Story to a Highlight named after the shelf so the link keeps working after 24 hours.
Disclose in the post, not only on the page
Instagram's paid-partnership label is for brand deals. For affiliate links, the FTC expects a clear disclosure where people see the recommendation, such as "I earn a commission from links in my bio" in the caption or on the Story itself.
